What were the songs you sang When We Were Young? Family singalongs? school events? what was on the radio, or the albums you exchanged with friends?
ROCA’s members were polled, and it turned out that many of them were would-be pop stars! What we sang obviously depended on our age, but we ended up zeroing in on the music of the ‘60’s to the ‘80s (some of us are older, some of us younger for that repertoire). Of course, a lot of those numbers are not written for orchestra and chorus – but James Malmberg didn’t let that stop him, and turned to colleagues to arrange rock music into a format for our ensemble.
So we’ll be offering songs from ‘60’s Beach Boys to ‘80’s Metallica, with hits from Procul Harem, Queen, and Pink Floyd, to name only a few. We are delighted to welcome Frank Ludwig, of Canadian rock group Trooper as our MC for the concert, and will be sharing his own arrangement of “Round Round We Go”. And of course, no rock concert would be complete without a Beatles singalong to end it.
Come join us for a retro evening – dig out your tie-dyed shirts, your beads, your big hair, your leather! James Malmberg will lead the ROCA band from the bass guitar, while Brigid Coult will bring Chorus and Orchestra together for an evening in which We Will We Will Rock You!
