Richmond Chorus ends our off-again-on-again season with music that reflects who we are as Canadians, a program that began with a journey across our country and became something deeper. We offer the work of the great songwriters who have put Canada on the international map – mostly writing in a folksong genre, but much more than “traditional” folk music: songs of nostalgia, of place, of hardship, of happiness – songs that connect with art and industry, with place and history. We’re looking forward to sharing songs from Indigenous writers, from the Celtic traditions of Allister MacGillivray to the nationalist fervor of Gilles Vigneault, from Rita MacNeil and Stan Rogers and Gordon Lightfoot – songwriters and poets and picture-creators who are among our Canadian treasures.
Join the Richmond Chorus in a recording session / open rehearsal! Our community partner for this concert is the Ukrainian Community Society of Ivan Franko (Richmond), as they work to provide support to those in Ukraine as well as those refugees now entering Canada.
